tsurich
Needed to walk away from the machine. Am using 35wt. Blendables thread and breaking breaking breaking. Tried tension, needle, thread conditioner. The colors and weight are perfect for this application if it would just not break. It seems to be such a soft (not tightly spun) thread. Anyone have any experience with this thread.
Bonnie
I just bought my first spools a few days ago and haven't had them on the machine so not sure about things either yet, but with all that you say you have done did you do an actual thread test. Take a chunk about 18 inches, hold one end tight in one hand and the other end in you other hand and give a tug...did it snap or break really easy. IF yes, then you more than likely have a bad spool....if no, give it a few more tugs to make sure it won't break. After that its just a bit more dialing in your tensions and may be soaking it a bit more with Sewers Aid. You said you changed the needle, but was that because you thought the needle had a burr or was that to get a different size needle. Let us know what you found out....almost ready to use mine. tsurich
Bonnie, Tried your thread test and it breaks but I have not done this before so how hard should I be able to pull. I need to do this with each thread that I use so I can judge. It is a new day so will try again and if problems, do all the fixes again. Would like input on the thread though because 42 new colors are coming out and I am tempted to get them. The colors seem to speak to me more than other variegated threads. Bonnie
You should use just a gentle tug, but firm....you are not to reef on it....or jerk it sharply, just a firm gentle tug...if it snaps that easily, its a general test that the thread has gone bad.... play with a few different threads to get the feel for it and go from there... Good luck.
Bonnie
NOW I'M bummed....I bought 4 spools yesterday, and no I didn't do the thread test in the store...I didn't know the store owner and it was a first time in the store so I just took my chances. Well, guess what, all 4 of the spools have failed MY thread test....and they are breaking pretty much in the same spot...some variegated threads have weak spots and the ones I have are on a tan spot. Go figure....well, back to the drawing board for me, and a change of thread choice. I'm sure that the threads that I have would work great in my DM when I do work there, but its not going to work on the larger machine. Bummer. Just my 2 cents and bummerism. Charlene
Bonnie, I would contact the Sulky company. I have contacted them in the past when I had some bad spools of thread, and they were very helpful and responsive. I have used this threadto do thread work on my domestic without problems, but haven't tried it on my la. Charlene

Guest Linda S
I've never tried this. When I first bought my machine, I tried some Signature cotton thread and couldn't stand all the lint. I started ordering from Superior, and have stuck with them. Not only is their thread wonderful, it's all GUARANTEED. They have a huge selection of types and colors, so I've never been tempted to go anywhere else. mountainmanda
I carry Sulky in my shop and can vouch that they are a group of great people and in general extremely helpful. I can also tell ya that if you are using the 100% cotton thread to be careful of the fuzz factor. I haven't had an issue with the breaking but the fuzz -oh my heck, my machine looked like a fur ball! At that point I used canned air and had fuzz up my nose! -ACHOO! Take Care, Manda
