Jackie. by the plug and the on/off switch there is a little drawer that has a picture of a fuse on it. You need a small screwdriver and pry that drawer open. There is a spare fuse in there along with the original fuse. You most likely blew the fuse when that happened. Change out the fuse, but then carefully turn the flywheel and see if the needle is going up and down without hitting anything.

I remember it was a stubborn bugger to open. I only did that once, but it scared the heck out of me. After I got it open and changed the fuse, I took the old fuse to Radio Shack and bought a few new ones to keep in hand.

You may also need to change your needle. It may have been damaged when you hit something.
