NQR---Prayers for my husband UPDATE (6)

Recommended Posts

My husband Marvin hasn't been feeling well since the first of the year. He's lost about 22 lbs. since the first of the year. He wasn't getting better so the Dr. ordered a CT scan and we got the results yesterday. He has a mass about the size of your thumb at the top of the pancreas, it is adjacent to the duodenum, it is in the notch between the abdominal aorta and superior mesenteric artery. They are thinking it is cancer further testing is needed to determine what exactly we are dealing with. They are thinking lymphoma. We don't have health insurance, so we need lots of prayer that we can find some help so we don't lose everything we have worked so hard to accomplish. Your prayers will be so appreciated.

UPDATE (1): We have an appointment at University of Michigan at 8:30 March 4th. As soon as I find out more I will let you all know. Your thoughts and prayers are a comfort to us. Marv has been so blessed reading all of your comments as I am too.

UPDATE (2): Appointment at U of M went really well. They are so optimistic up there. They said they really won't know anything until they get a biopsy and we prayed for a cancellation and there was one. Marv hadn't had any nutrition drink yet so he was able to get right in and have the biopsy done. We will know the results Tuesday or Wednesday and the tumor board of specialists will discuss the course of action that we'll take. They said the tumor has characteristics of a type of tumor that reacts really well to an oral medication. Praying that it will be that easy. ~hugs~ to all of you from Marvin and I.

UPDATE (3): Well the biopsy wasn't what we were hoping for, Marvin has stage 4 pancreatic cancer. They gave us our options and they have an experimental treatment they would like to try. Marv had the blood work done and we have the weekend to decide. This is all overwhelming to say the least but we have faith in God to take care of us. We are still pending on whether he can get on medicad or if we can get support from U of M. Praying for God's guidance in all of that too. I will let you all know how things are going. Thanks for every prayer and thought.

UPDATE (4): Blood work was ok for the experimental treatment and the second biopsy done. Tomorrow we go back again to have a port placed then back again on Monday to get the meds and the treatments started. God has been so good to us through all of this and your prayers and thoughts have been a blessing. Thank you.

UPDATE (5): 4/7/11 Rushed Marvin to U of M Friday 4/1/11, he kept vomiting and the tumor had caused a blockage. They put a 7" stint in his small intestine. He feels much better but will be on soft pureed foods from now on.

UPDATE (6): 4/27/11 Monday Marvin had a CT scan to see how things are going. He is jaundice and the scan showed the tumor has grown and has invaded his liver more. He had a procedure yesterday to see if the bile ducts were blocked, they weren't. That means the cancer is shutting down his liver. They will take him off the trial meds and have given him the option of radical chemo or be kept comfortable. Marvin has chosen to be kept comfortable. Please continue to pray for us God is sufficient and has been our Comfort.

I'm just sick to hear of more illness... so lots of prayers will be said, and some Huge, Warm Hugs.. and Group Hugs sent your way too. To ALL of you. God is Good, still performs miracles as long as we stay out of the way.

That must have been some pretty frightening news to hear, I will be praying that they will find the news to be better upon investingating the situation and that The Lord will provide whatever is needed to overcome this obstacle. Blessings and Grace to you both.

Oh Sheryl - you are both in my prayers. I hope it will be something operable and they can get it all and make his recovery quick. God bless you both.
