Georgene
In a previous post I asked about how the chalk marks would stay once the quilt was rolled, and I promised pictures of the before and after. http://apqs.com/quiltboard/viewthread.php?tid=26933&page=1#pid339874 It worked quite well. I chalked densely with a foam brush -- you can rub it in better than the pounce pad. Then I sprayed the markings with water. Then I rolled the quilt back and forth and the markings stayed. Here's a before rolling picture.
Quilting Heidi
Well Georgene that looks like it worked really well!
Georgene
Yep, it worked. It might not work, though, on a different fabric, or an a day with more humidity???? But at least it worked this time. I was certainly afraid that it wouldn't. I thank everyone for their insights. It's so comforting to have people to ask when you're here all alone working on something like this.

Georgene
I've been trying to think of all the tools I used on this quilt: Deloa's Boomerang Border Stencil from The Stencil Company Circlelord Upfront System and Diamond Cross Hatch and mini-fillers. Rhonda's Rulers Short and Long Straight Rulers Lots of Freehand Work (which is the funnest - but could be funner if I had the Bliss, which I really need, because I've got some drag spots where my machine is hard to move.) CrazyAboutQuilting
Oh how beautiful, Georgene! Love your quilting choices for this beautiful quilt! And thanks for letting us know about your pouncing. I may have to try that sometime. Yep, the freehand is definitely the most fun!

I know what you mean about some drag spots. I've got them, too. I need overhead lights first, then maybe a Bliss...someday.

LadyLake
Georgene, That is a beautiful quilt! I love the texture and interest that your quilting designs provided. I have a question. What kind of chalk did you use for the roll test -- was it pounce, miracle, or a combo or what? Thanks!

The embrodiery panels are the same, but they're in a different setting. You still gave me great ideas, though!

Sparkle
Thank you Georgene for sharing your experiences with chalking and rolling. Also that chalking worked best when brushing it on---The quilt is beautiful, and all the custom quilting you did is gorgeous!
PamelaA
Thank you Georgene for the close pictures of this quilt. I made one of these quilt tops. It is sitting in a pile of quilts to be quilted. I needed the inspirstioin of your quilt to give me ideas on how to quilt it. I might think about quilting it now.
