nineva
Sylvia I love that. Don't have any quilting suggestions but that quilt would make me smile every time I looked at it. Would certainly take my mind off big hairy black things.....:D:D:D:D
JustSewSimple
Here's the problem: I did not use the white with dots in the background. I just used all white so quilting would really pop. (the other fabrics are all 30s fabric). So, Now while I am piecing I have no idea what to do in all the white area!
lisae
It looks like there are dragonflies and butterflies quilted in the polka dot areas. I bet if you did the same thing they would really pop against your white fabric. I had to look for them in the polka dot fabric. Maybe I need new glasses I think whatever you decide it should be whimsical to keep with the theme of the quilt. Can't wait to see what you come up with! DOwens
I think the dragonflies and butterflies would look great in the white. Maybe use a contrasting thread so that they would really show. Cute quilt. You'll have to post pictures when your done.
Bekah
Sylvia maybe you could put some motifs from your 30's prints in the blocks or like Lisa suggested, dragonflies, butterflies, bumble bees, birds, etc.

srichardson
Sylvia, I think Meg Marshall quilted one like that and posted it on here. If you can't find the thread try Meg's online photo album. Sue

JustSewSimple
Meg, did you quil that one on your Mille or Innova? I like how you showed how you had your plastic templates. I may have to use my CL and add some freehand as well. Thanks!
mrsbishwit
I love this quilt, it was also featured in a quilt magazine several years ago and it was done in Lakehouse Dry Goods fabric. I bought all the fabrics to do one myself but never found the time to do it yet. I was planning on using my CL when it came time to quilt it, was thinking of using my spiral template for the flower centers, crosshatching in the dotted background areas, CC in the flower petals & leaves. The wavy lines of my CL tiles template for the stems of the flowers. Haven't decided what I would do in the green pieced border yet. Please post pics of what you end up doing. JustSewSimple
Joann, I have had some of the same thoughts you have had about the CHing and such. Don't put off piecing this pattern. It goes really fast. I am slow because I have had an ongoing headache (due to my CPAP machine) but it is really fun to do!
mrsbishwit
Sylvia, I am hoping to work on it this summer if time doesn't get away from me that is. I think this quilt will add just the right amount of bright color to my quilt studio.
cblevins
That is such a "Happy" quilt! I love it.
meg_marsh
Sylvia - I did that one on the Millie - prior to Bliss days. The templates were really helpful when trying to get everything consistent. I did it for a friend's granddaughter & it is now hanging in her room above her bed. The mom loved it so much, she totally redid her daughter's room!!
