Neher-in-law5
This is a prayer quilt I made for the pastor's mom treating for recurring cancer. He mentioned her the first of May, within a week I had the center top done. Gave it to him yesterday. The block design is Desert Sun, normally a 12 inch block design. I didn't want to make a lot of smaller blocks (or have the time then) so I blew it up three times the size and ended up with a 41 inch square center and added about a 7-8 inch border. The mom has Cherokee heritage so the colors and quilting designs were with that in mind. The border quilting came from the back of an AQS book that I sketched out, used blue tape on template sheet and cut the stencil lines outside the blue tape. It worked well for me. Quilted on George. Neher-in-law5
Thanks, a few years ago our church ladies agreed that we would make prayer quilts for those in crisis situations. You are looking at the one that does them all! So now I choose to make one if I am aware and do whatever I think fits the one it is made for. This one just felt good at every step as I was making it.
