Susan Beidler
A lady asked me about quilting on a quilt which had folded flowers which weren't to be anchored until after quilting. Every other square was one of these 6 inch flowers. It looked to me like they might get caught by the hopping foot. Has anyone had experience with this? Thanks, Susie B. Bonnie
Can you pin the flowers back and out of the way? Getting them away from the foot will be the only way you will be able to get up and under them without nailing them around the hopping foot....trust me its not fun trying to untangle a loose piece from the foot. Pretty ugly!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!
birgitquilts
Susie, A couple of months ago, one of my customers brought me a star quilt with some of the stars being 3-dimensional stars. During the freehand quilting process, I folded the dimensional portion to whichever side was appropriate in order to get underneath it. Quilting underneath those loose parts really stressed the effect. It is doable - provided you are working from the front of the machine. Hope this helps. Susan Beidler
Thank you very much for your responses. I figured that's what I have to do. I guess I was hoping there was an easy way to accomplish it. Susie B.
