Oh Patty! I'm green. I know it's gonna be a while before my name comes up to the top of the list. I hear that more and more often people are doing their own installs. Let me know how it goes.

Patty - I noticed on the IQ Yahoo list that Lois Russell did her own install on a Millennium with Bliss and had no problems. Maybe you could find her email and contact her about it.

I was able to do a self install on my IQ with the excellent help from my dealer on the phone. Because I injured my back and could not bend over, I had an industrial repair person come over to help me get my machine head back on the carriage, and then to help with some of the wiring stuff because I was unable to bend over. So despite that handicap, things went quite smoothly, and I was up and running and able to start quilting right away. Jessica was familiar with a Millie as she has one and also knew what kinds of things I might have difficulties with, like putting new edgerider wheels on my Millie, and she was really patient and helped me, and kept assuring me, You can do this!

Thanks Linda and Marg.

I am putting the IQ on my Freedom which is on the old style carriage and table, not Bliss. I don't really think it will be a problem, I already have the ER wheels on it and I am used to taking the machine head off and on for shows. My biggest fear, I guess, is getting familiar with the system and using it's full capabilities.

I need to get signed up for the yahoo groups... I'm sure that will help a lot.

Yes, Sylvia. Will still be running the Millie freehand and probably some on Vanilli too. :)

I second the motion that you come to MQX West in October in Portland. I have only been using my IQ since October 2010 and am very excited to be taking some classes so I can learn how to use my IQ even better than I do at present. My family laughs every time I mention using my IQ better, and I guess it does sound kind of funny, but I don't know where I would be if I didn't have my IQ to do the quilting for me.

Oh, stop. I want to come, but don't think I can swing it. I am scheduled to go to Houston, which I could cancel. But...... I begged and begged my husband to go on a vacation to Ashville, NC and we have already booked that. We have not been on a vacation together in years. I have been begging to go there for years.

We would get back on Sunday and then I would have to turn right around and fly to Portland. We'll see, IQ training may win out. Life is short and customer quilts can wait, right? ;)

Update...

The unit arrived Monday afternoon. I installed most of it that day. Just had to do the wiring and calibrations on Tuesday. The install was the easy part! Started playing around with doing blocks and getting familiar with machine movement speed and motor speed to get a nice stitch.

About had a meltdown when trying pantos and couldn't get the realign to work! had to walk away for a short time. Watched some videos that Helen did on pantos and realigning and that made a huge difference. I obviously wasn't doing it right!

Spent time this morning buying digital designs and transferring them to the tablet.

Time now to go practice some more!!
