DoryJM
I'm attaching a photo of a Stars on Parade quilt that I finished for a different customer. I have another quilt waiting to be done. This customer wants it to have "movement"? Any suggestions??
ecmoore
I really think that the spirals in the middle give it a *ton* of movement, and I like the "swoop" in the triangles of the stars - really adds to it.
DoryJM
The new customer likes the cc in the stars; she doesn't like the spiral in the middle because it takes away from the hexagon in the center and makes it look round. Still struggling....
Busy Quilting
I've just been watching Myrna's "Creating Spaces" so why not create a design wiithin the bigger square around the smaller pinwheels, going over the darker out side of the octagon. This will make the stars ound the octagon stand out more...I hope! Lyn
mrsbishwit
How about doing Terry Twists in the triangles instead of CC and then a swirl meander in the background. That should give plenty of movement to the quilt. BTW love they way you quilted this one
Quilting Heidi
What about if you did radiating lines in the background?
Sheri Butler
Dory, thats beautiful I want a Wacom tablet so I can draw pics for you guys. I see the "see=saw grass design in the pinwheels. It will make it look like its spinning. You know, the pokey zig zaggy looking design? I think that would really make those spin! Just do them all in the same direction! Then do the Echo all around those triangles around the spinning pinwheels. SID the octagon.
DoryJM
Interesting thoughts...keep 'em coming!! Sheri, what is "see-saw grass"? I can't picture it.
LadyLake
Hi Dory, I agree with Sheri about SID-ing the center octagon. You could add a 1/4" echo inside of the octagon to make it further stand out. I like the CC in the star arms, and would suggest doing feathers that all point the same direction, forming a spinning circle behind the star. Another suggestion is to quilt straight lines from the center out to the point on each star arm, either 1/4" apart or beadboard style.
