NQR - Arctic Tundra in Summer's Full Bloom

Recommended Posts

A coworker on Alaska's North Slope shared this photo with me. She took it on June 29 out the window from the pickup as she passed on the road.

It is truly a natural phenomenon; the cotton grass (cotton balls) – looks like fresh snow on the tundra, as far as the eye could see.

For those of you who want to know exactly where this was taken, it's about half way between the Brooks mountain range and the Arctic Ocean.

I have heard that Alaska is beautiful, and it is. When is the best time of year to visit and see it all?

Hubby and I have talked about a cruise but have never saved up or gotten around to it. They have told us that the cruise that includes the train into Dinali is the best one. Any advice from a Alaska native?
