Farmland Quilter
Have a T-shirt quilt with flannel back and Quilter's Dream Blend batting and So Fine thread top and bottom. Will quilt with IQ and meander pattern. What needle size would you suggest?
Guest Linda S
Cheryl - I use a 16 for everything and every thread.

jeri
I use a 4.0 for everything as well. Saves confusion--Iwould never remember what size was on the machine. I never remember numbers.
Sandra Darlington
I use a 4.0 for everything, too.
GrandmaLKB
Ditto..............I find that size works for all or most unless the thread is very thick. I don't use those, so the 4.0 is just fine for my use.
elkayr
I know this is an old thread but...I thought that I read on the APQS website or in my manual that I can only use MR 3.5 (16) or 4.0 (18) size needles on my millie. I was reading another 'thread' on threads & some use a 3.0 needle. Superior Threads recommends using a MR 3.0 (16) needle for So Fine & Bottom Line. I'm confused. Quilting Heidi
Linda I use mostly 3.5 and sometimes a 4.0. I've never tried a 3.0 but my guess is I'd like it. LOL I like the smaller hole left with the 3.5 but you do have to mess with tension a little. The needle flexes more so you have to make sure you have it pretty well balanced. newmillie2010
APQS says that if you use a 3.0 you will have to adjust the timing. Since I don't want to mess with timing on my machine, I just use the 3.0, 4.0, and just recently used a 4.5 for a metallic thread. I haven't found it necessary to go to a 3.0. Our machines are calibrated using SoFine thread and a 4.0 needle. That's what my Milli likes...a lot!
