Neher-in-law5
here is a twin sized quilt for my 3 year old grandson in CA because he now has the big bed. His mom gave me the light green turtle fabric and I built the rest around it. The batting is Dream Wool (my first time using it). Quilted on George. I used stencils for the blocks and the rope border.

Neher-in-law5
same on these blocks One of the things I did different on this quilt was to SID all the block row seams, then to quilt the blocks themselves, I flipped the quilt over and placed the stencils in the "eyeball" center of the SID formed squares and did the quilting. Since the backing is a mostly brown fabric I didn't need to worry about the chalk showing on the light colored fabrics. It worked well. The thread is Invisfil top and bottom, two different colors. Neher-in-law5
The rope border was a stencil I picked up when a few of us created our own 4 stop shop hop along our state border. This was stitched from the front.
Neher-in-law5
Last month, my daughter gave birth to her 14 week developed daughter after her heart stopped beating. She lives in MD and I was in MN unable to go out to her. There wasn't anything that I could do for them, so after they named the baby Hope, I made this "soft" memorialbilia box for them to store the keepsakes that they have. I should have taken a few hand stitches in the zipper pull end, but this was a learn/design as you make project that needed to get sent. I did the embroidery with my Pfaff using Robison Anton threads.
Neher-in-law5
The inside of the top cover. The overall size is about 10 x 12 inches and 1.5-2 inch sides. The zipper will allow everything to stay inside if the 1, 3, or 5 year old siblings choose to carry it somewhere.

LadyLake
I like the block pattern you choose and the rope border design, Madelyn. I'm amazed at how accomplished a quilter you are on the George. I'm sorry to learn that Hope did not make it. Your gift to her parents is lovely.
