Shana, I marked the clam shells with a stencil and then used the nested circle rulers and just moved the nested circle ruler across the row. I find it's easier to start at the lower row, go across and then work up to next row, etc. So - nope, no starts and stops. Was able to do a whole section at a time.

Absolutely stunning, Laura! Thanks for the explanation on the clamshells...I have a quilt I want to use clamshells in the background, but have been unsure how to approach it!

I think the quilting is beautiful. I'm working on an applique quilt right now so I'm enjoying this quilt very much. I would love to see more pics.
