OntheLAM
I am having significant 'bounce' with the quilt when the SR is engaged, although this is not a problem otherwise. I am concentrating on smooth motion and consistent speed but I have not yet been able to identify what is causing this bounce. I have taken to heart the warnings of enthusiatic over-tightening of loaded quilts and have made sure the stretch is as I would have it for hand quilting (with a little give). It does seem that the problem is aggravating my attempts to make curves as smooth with the SR as without (although I know this is a beginner's issue). I have a Liberty on a 10' table (no truss), true to 1/16" , and cams properly adjusted. Don't know about the encoder wheels but the SR is functioning just fine. Any ideas? Guest mark
Hi Caroline, Is it the machine that is bouncing or the fabric? You might want to check the idler roller. If it is too high off of the throat of the machine, the fabric will bounce because of the hopping foot. You can lower the roller if needed, it should only be about a flat hands width off of the throat. Hope that helps...
OntheLAM
Mark, it is the fabric which bounces. I tested the height of the idler bar and it may be a tad too high, so I will adjust it ever so slightly and hope that calms things down. Thanks for the suggestion (I did see on Myrna's post a picture of the proper height). Caroline
