SYork
Has anyone tried to quilt on satin with success? I have a quilt that has satin borders and sashing with the blocks made of Crown Royal bags. I am afraid that the needle will make runs in the satin. Do you understand what I am talking about? Should I tell her to try to do this on a domestic machine? Any advice will be appreciated.
ffq-lar
Give it a try on a scrap of satin. Like silk, which quilts beautifully, there may be issues with unforgiving needle holes if you need to frog. Go down a needle size and use thin thread. A recent post had a beautiful quilt (I think a Christmas tree skirt?) made from a wedding dress. No problems with quilting on satin were reported. Quilting Heidi
I just got done quilting a Satin piece. I used just satin back and front and did a meandering feather all over. It came out gorgeous! I didn't have to do anything special at all. I'll try to get some pictures posted soon.

JustSewSimple
If you get a nick in your needle it will pull but other than that you don't have to worry!
o2b Quilting
I just did a dupioni silk quilt. Used SewFine on top and Bottom Line in the bobbin with a 3.5 needle. Worked great. As it was my first silk quilt was holding my breath but didn't have any problems:) I would think satin would be quite similar.

Grammie
I think satin quilts just great. I do serge all the ouside edges to keep from having any fraying. It helps alot. Good luck grammie tammie
