brendarahm
I'm getting ready to quilt two layers of batting for the first time--one wool and one cotton. Does anyone know if there is a preference for which one to put on top (nearest the quilt top)?
mcmullen
Brenda, I have not done this, but in reading this forum on a daily basis,it seems most suggest putting wool as the top layer.'m sure the more experienced quilters will chime in and give you their opinions. brendarahm
Thank you, Becky. I was guessing that the wool should go on top based on the feel of the two products. I didn't mention in my initial post that my goal is to layer the battings so that the quilting shows up nicely.
Quilting Heidi
I always put the wool on top because it is what will show the quilting definition.
Butterfly
Wool on top. Your stitch definition will be amazing and you can make it look like trapunto. Jess

Darlene Epp
Well..........I guess I'm the odd woman out! I put the cotton on top because the wool changed the color of the white in my quilt top and all the seams showed up! I had to add a layer of bleached cotton on top of the wool. The quilt looks like it's trapunto and won a Show Director's Choice ribbon at Quilt the Quilt in 2002.
