elkayr
Has anyone figured out a way to tell the bobbin is about to run out of thread before quilting about 12" with no bobbin thread? Those of you that have been doing this for a while...do you just check your bobbin thread ever so often & change before running out or do you just let it run out? Janette
Sometimes it makes a bit of a rattly noise as it gets very low and that is when I usually change my bobbin, but other times I don't notice the change in sound, although most of the time I roughly know how many rows of a panto I can complete with one bobbin and use that as my guide. RitaR
Mine starts sewing different, then becomes real loose on top. For Penny, thats my clue. I agree with Janette, sometimes the little noise. I only have that happen when using the metal bobbins. RitaR
WestieMom
I notice the bobbin starts to rattle a little when close to running out. Sometimes I'm concentrating so hard that I forget to pay attention to the rattle and I'll run out of thread. If doing a panto I know how many passes I can make before running out. elkayr
Great! Thanks! I use prewounds but I will start listening for the rattly sound. I hadn't thought about figuring how many rows I can complete.
meg
i can hear it - lola baby gets a scrapey rattling going on. i can't remember who said to listen for it, but when i did, i could hear it plain as day. once i hear it - i know i can go for a bit longer, and then it's good night nurse. so i look for a good spot to stop and change bobbins. CindyT
My machine was so noisy that I never understood how the rest of you could "hear" it. Now that I've repacked my gear box with new grease, I hear it, too!
LibbyG
When I do a panto, I can see the thread come off the cone. I usually know how many rows I can do, but I can also see when the thread stops on the cone.
Quilting Grammy
I listen too then try to find a stopping point.
