Janette
They look great side by side Linzi. Great quilting on all of them. I haven't a clue what a Norse design is, but am off to look it up.

kennan100
I love these, Linzi! The texture of the quilting shows up so beautifully on shiny fabrics and to go with the metals is brilliant! They remind me of the tin ceiling tiles also!!

aborning
They are absolutely beautiful!. They also remind me of ceiling tiles--and the old fashioned look. I'd love to learn to do wholecloth but between keeping busy with teenagers in the house yet, quilting for customers, and working my job as a Hotel Manager at a Casino--I have no time to "practice" on any new projects. I barely have time to sneak in a few of my "easy, normal quilts" for myself here and there. Did I mention my 4 huge Perennial Gardens I have to also take care of in spring, summer, fall?!?. How am I ever going to get the quilt done for my daughter's Graduation on June 1st?!?!?
dbz98236
Those are so cool. The fabric makes them look like metal. Great job. And a like button would be a wonderful thing.
sewlinzi
I have never seen metal ceilung tiles, will have to investigate. Don't know about a padded cell, Judi but I was rather inspired by Mummies at Edinburgh Museum yesterday!
Sandra Darlington
Do you mark the designs before quilting them? If so, what do you use?
sewlinzi
Mark them with biro on backing as they are done back to front with lurex as backer. Then paint over the back with spinge or roller...

Sandra Darlington
Thanks for the info, Linzi. Last August I bought a book in the Highlands on Celtic art that would be wonderful on metallic looking fabric. I managed to find some gold, but I also want some silver. Can't seem to find it here or on the web, but I'll keep looking.

Judi
:D:D Many of the old banks and restaurants would have these decorative ceiling tile / tins. Many different styles. They actually now sell repros at Home Depot even. I will have to do a search as to what "Lurex" is...... Sounds like the "The Lorax" from the Dr. Suess movie we just went to last weekend. Maybe we call it something else over here?
sewlinzi
I think you need to look in the dress up section of Joann's - we are talking about nylon here! Btw, meant "paint with a sponge"
Sandra Darlington
Aah, where are my JoAnn's coupons? I never thought to look in that section, but will very soon.
