PoodleGirl
Hi everyone. I bought my Swirls template used. I think it is an older design as it doesn't have the half Swirls at the bottom like the one on Michael's website. How do I line it up with the bottom of my quilt to start out? Thanks, Michelle
RoseCity Quilter
Humm, that will be tougher. I think I would like up the edge of the quilt so it is halfway up the 1st row of swirls. Does that make sence? You are going to love swirls, I use it a lot.....
PoodleGirl
Thanks Ardelle. That is kind of what I thought. Wish I had those half swirls! Michelle
yankiequilter
My Swirlz templates are older and don't have the 1/2 swirl. Ardell has the right idea, just line up so that the quilt edge is part way into the starting row of swirls. Your ending row will most likely have partial swirls, plus you have partial swirls both left and right, so It will look perfectly normal. As you stand at the back of the machine you should have the hole on the template that is used for advancing positioned away from you. Stated differently, it is above the swirls you do on the second pass. Make sense?
PoodleGirl
Good thing you mentioned the holes. I think I have it upside down! Michelle
Katydids
I used to have the older swirls template without the 1/2 pattern. I did mine just the opposite from Carmen. I would put the hole close to me at the back and would put the stylus in the hole and then go around to the front and advance the quilt until the stitching line of the row I just did met the needle. I thought that hole was to represent the "previous stitched" line. It always lined up great for me this way.
Sandra Darlington
I do mine like Patti except, with my smaller Liberty, I don't need to go around to the front to line it up.
