smerrill
I was wondering how you deal with fusible applique? Do you stitch over or just around it? I have a quilt that has several blocks that are fused, like 70% of the block is fusible applique. I'm a little worried about stitching these areas. can I stitch through them? I really could use your help I'm afraid of leaving big holes that will look bad. Shirley
JustSewSimple
I stitch through them. You will have to check your needle once in awhile as it may build up on there due to the heat. Good luck!
Dustee
I stitch through them also. Haven't had any problems yet. Like Sylvia advised check your needle often for build up.
smerrill
Thanks, that helps a lot. It sounds like I can just move forward on this quilt. That fusible stuff had me a little scared. Shirley
GrandmaLKB
Some of that fusible used in applique is "No SEW" and is very sticky. I used it my mistake one time and tried to sew through it with my DSM and had a real mess.
Guest Linda S
I generally outline it all just inside its surface or zig zag a bit on the edge. My experience, especially with the McKenna Ryan-type applique quilts is that those little pieces begin to pop off after time if they're not stitched down. Judy Bland
I did one recently where the client wanted a panto over applique, done with her new Accucut using circles, some places were 3 or 4 thicknesses but Amelia just ploughed on through, slowed her down and therein lies the trick, not to unconciously slow down too much because you will lose penetration speed and bog down.
