Quilting Heidi 1,396 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Wool is beautiful but make sure you put a light weight batting under it for a wall hanging. Wool can sag over time. I tease apart the wool into a thin layer and lay it over something like Dream poly or Hobbs and it makes a beautiful wall hanging. MarieBrewer 1 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 Linda, have you tried Warm and Natural's poly? It's thin but has loft and is very stable. Borders on stiff. I don't want to use puff on this quilt. should I see if the little quilt shop here has something besides blend to put under it? The one piece of it I did salvage to use on this quilt. but the other is....well..... looks like a raggedy ghostie!!! I had to kind of "piece" the one I'm using... Quilting Heidi 1,396 Report post Posted September 12, 2012 LOL yes Linda and unfortunately it sounds like you learned the hard way. I usually start at a corner and go very slowly. Sometimes one piece is a little thicker than the other side but I can usually get them apart with no holes. I usually get my batting off a roll and I wonder if the folds cause issues.
