Tutti Fruiti....

This is a customer quilt that I was privileged to be allowed to quilt anyway I wanted....perfectly pieced and appliqued, wonderful choice of batik fabrics from this UK pattern designer.

White Glide thread on top and white Bottomline in the bobbin, the only place that I used coloured threads was in the flying geese......batting was my customers's own, measures 84x84....all freemotion and ruler work......used Rhonda Beyers large 'S' curve ruler and a big Renae's Arc for everything else.

More info and photos on my blog as usual.....  Sorry that Flickr removed the photos but you can check this out on my blog/websiteby clicking on this link

Oh my goodness. When is your book coming out? I must have one! How do you decide what to stitch where? Stunning is not a strong enough word! Wow! Kay, do you mark your quilt before you start?

Okay, let's back up here for a minute. I think that should have said "this is a quilt for a customer who was privileged to have me quilt this for her." :P It is simply stunning, Kay. You have such talent and artistry in your quilting. I'd love to be you when I grow up, even though I'm probably tons older than you are!

Thanks for all of your wonderful comments!

I'll try to answer some of your questions....

This quilt top was a beauty before I quilted it. I didn't have a plan, I started with the flying geese, not because they were the first border but because I knew what to quilt there, from there I took the straight line quilting into the sashings in the middle of the quilt, then everything evolved. It was a lot of work, I'm not sure if I intended it to be so much work. I only use a purple air erasable marker or white chalk on customer quilts and mark on the frame but try to do very little marking.

I used Ronda Beyer's large 'S' Ruler, one Renae's Arcs and Deloa's Castle for the straight lines in the sashings, I find a straight edge ruler faster/easier for the straight lines.

I have had my Millie for 2 1/2 years, had a 9 inch machine on a frame before that, I quilt part time at the moment, my log....says 46 hours quilting but I know I sometimes I forget to make an entry......

Thanks again for all of your wonderful comments.
