iedquilts
I have this one in queue. I would appreciate some suggestions. I'm stumped as to what to do because it has the 'wholecloth' look ( no contrasting sashings and no borders). What to do for block fill and borders.? thanks
CindyT
If it were mine, I would outline the figures and cross hatch the whole background. I bet you'll get some different suggestions than this though.
ffq-lar
Great advice from Cindy! Any overall design that you are comfortable stitching would be effective--maybe medium density so you don't take years to quilt it. Loops would be cute and era-friendly, or even a medium stipple. Here's another thought--it really does have sashings and a border, even though the background is all the same fabric. If you want to quilt in "little bites", stitch a quarter-inch away from both sides of the seams of the sashings and borders. That will give you a half-inch apart double line that will separate all the blocks and the border, effectively framing those very cute blocks. Now you can outline the appliques and stitch any fill you like--even different ones in each block as long as they are all the same density. The sashings can be crosshatched or egg-and-darted or even feathered. The border as well. Lots of fun!

Quilting Heidi
Oh I remember the one Lindasewsit, Linda Gibbons, did! Here is the link. She did a gorgeous job and really captured the feel of the quilt. I couldn't think of anything better to do. http://forum.apqs.co...-pics-i-forgot/

Primitive1
I immediately thought of the quilt that Heidi referred to as well, you could make your own sashings with feathering in the piecing and then quilt something differant in each block for interest...I would be excited to do this one - what fun!
