1990's Ultimate I for sale on eBay

Recommended Posts

Right now there is an Ulti I with thread cutter on 14' table for sale on eBay. Seller is wanting $5200.  I know the Ulti's are popular for those who like to buy them to put a computerized system on, so just thought I'd mention it here. Just do a search using for APQS  and it will come up.

Heya Marci - when I bought my Ulti 1 the woman who owned it didn't think you could add a computer to these - from your post I'm gathering that you can?  I don't know if I ever would - but would be good to know!  :)

Oh, you sure can! Several on forum have added them for computerized stitching (aftermarket systems like Compuquilter, Intelliquilter, etc.).  I added the Intellistitch stitch regulation to mine a year or so ago and hope to add computerized stitching down the road.

Hey great to know!  The only reason I knew you could at stitch regulation was because of your posts, but I honestly have no idea how that works so I didn't know you could add anything else...WOW!  Hey, that's awesome!  Thanks Marci - I appreciate all of the information you so kindly share!  :)

I know you can add a CompuQuilter to an Ultimate 1 because CQ doesn't need a stitch regulator to run. APQS' new Quilt Path DOES require a stitch regulator and I understood that IQ did too, but someone with more knowledge that I have about IQ could give you accurate information on that. The new CQ3 is awesome, with many newly added features.

Thanks for chiming in, Darlene.  The I/Q doesn't need to have a stitch regulator on ahead of time, but you do get a discount if you add it on when installed at the same time as the I/Q (according to their website).  I/Q can be run with or with out it on the machine is what I understand.  I need to get to a show or two and see the different systems that will work on my Ulti I and find out the differences and features.

IQ needs the needle positioner (single stitch) to run.  If you don't have it you could add Intellistitch.  I've had the IQ for over a year and a half and just added the IS this week.  I am real happy with both.  Valerie, Kasa Engineering the manufacturer of the IQ and IS systems is near Columbus Ohio.

Hey thanks, that is great to know Nigel!  Am I wrong in thinking that IntelliStitch has to be installed by a rep?

Valerie

Sorry I missed your post.  Intellistitch must be installed by a rep.  You get a new motor and the machine is completly rewired.  It took Helen and Tony about 5 hours to do mine.

Yep, that is the right auction, Kristine. They have relisted it.  The seller said this came from a school who had it in their Home Ec program, but the program was dissolved, so the school is selling a lot of their equipment.
