Sharonarooni
Here is my latest log cabin quilt. It is a freehand swirl in the center and small border and meander in the large border. Meander border seems to be my beginner go to. LOL I saw one of these quilts made up in my LQS and I fell head over heels in love with the green fabric so I had to make it. It still need to be bound but it is 2nd in line for that. HA! I am the world's slowest at binding but I do love to do it. The next picture is some of my feather practice. I almost feel ready to start adding it to a quilt even though some of the backtracking is still not where I want it to be. Thanks for looking and any advice is welcomed! :0) Log Cabin with swirls by sillyewe, on Flickr Log Cabin with swirls-back by sillyewe, on Flickr Practice Feathers by sillyewe, on Flickr

Neher-in-law5
With work like you have shown here, you need to be putting those on real quilts, not just practice pieces. The feathers are to be envied.

Sharonarooni
Ahhh, thank you so much for the lovely feedback. It helps to have other quilters look at it. I think my husband can't take much more of me herding him in to look at the next thing. Lol And, I will definitely try some beading in the spines for fun. LibbyG
I've always liked the look of swirls and after seeing this I'm going to practice it on a baby quilt. The feathers are beautiful. You can stop practicing them.

dlnewell
Just remember that if you use thread that matches or blends well, the back tracking bobbles won't show as much. It's difficult for me to get backtracking spot on---but then again, I'm not a computer. Quilting looks good!
fineseams
Your swirls are GREAT. And it looks to me like you are wasting fabric/batting/time "practicing" on feathers. Get those feather on a quilt, girl!
