sewhappy
Just returned from the Urgent Care office - My 14 year old son's foot looks to broken!! We won't know for sure until the swelling goes down. Apparently they are unable to see a STRESS FX on an x-ray. He broke his leg 3 years ago skiing. He is well known at the emergency room and Urgent Care facilities. DH calls him our own medical deduction. He is a typical boy - tho we don't know how this happened. I broke my foot once when it was asleep & I did not know it was broken until it woke up.
CucumberQuilting
Oh dear... Look, 45 views and no responses, we just don't know what to say. I'm so sorry. I've never truly believed that misery loves company or that hearing of another's woes makes yours any less, but here's one anyway: Our pastor and his wife have three boys. (That's the first clue.) One of their sons suffered a serious head injury last year. He's recovered from that now but it was a long, scary period of time for that family. Besides that, he also had a terrible problem with a tooth that required surgery and several other illnesses throughout the year just making it a miserable year for him and his family. They're thankful that year is over and look forward to a healthy, happier year this year. When the congregation was asked to share prayer requests or praises this week his mother told us this. Just a few minutes after her son left for school he called home on his cell phone. "I'm fine Mom." he begins. "Can you call the school and tell them I'll be a few minutes late? I just blew a front tire and spun a 360 on the highway and landed in a ditch. Cars and trucks were whizzing by in all directions and I never got hit! It's going to be a great year!" -- mother survived without having a heart attack. Mothers, we're just tougher than the rest!

Sandra Darlington
Oh boy, do I understand! I have 4 boys and one girl. They are all adults now, ranging from 19 to 32, but I can certainly remember the many trips to the ER for stitches and x-rays and all the worry. Good luck with your son's healing and I hope you are able to relax and get a good night's sleep tonight.

quiltmonkey
From one broken foot to another, all I can say is "ouch!" and that "I feel your pain." I'll be saying lots of prayers that your son will recover quickly. Young boys like your son heal faster than an old lady such as myself...LOL! Guest Linda S
Oh dear! Having had more than my share of orthopedic injuries, I can relate. I hope it's not bad and that one of those surgical boots and some rest will do the trick! Linda
annlittle1
When my son was in grade school he was so accident prone that when we walked into the Base Acute Care Clinic the medical personnel would greet me with "Hi, Mrs. Hughes. What's Robbie done this time?" There was about a three year period that he wasn't allowed to be near a window that was above the first floor. He fell through two windows within that period. The first one was from a second floor window. I was glad when we transferred to our new duty station and I was no longer so well known in the emergency room. BethDurand
I'm so sorry for you and your son. Having 2 older brothers who were always doing something to result in injuries, with my only childhood injury being 1 broken wrist, I think it's boys. You're in my prayers. Pam H
I know how you are feeling. My son Jacob flipped his 4wheeler and it threw him into the side of the barn he's17 and it broke the big bone between his elbow and shoulder December 6, thankfully he is young and they didn't have to do surgery even though it was a bad break, looked like a Z. They put him in a full arm brace molded to his arm, last week they cut it down to above the elbow, but of course his elbow will not bend very far as it is stiff. He has another 6 weeks in the small brace. This is his last year of high school, he's FFA president and works out with weights so it has really put a skid on his activity. But he has never complained. I will keep your son in my prayers for a speedy recovery. PamH
GERRY
Sorry about your boy, Sewhappy: I don't know about the "Boys will be Boys" thing though, I have 3 boys, & have spent far less time in the hospital with all of them than I did with my daughter. My darling girl, had measles just before she was old enough to have her MMR shot, 4 days in hospital, at 3 she had her tonsils & adenoids out, 7 days there, :( then at 3 1/2, she ran out into the street, & was struck by a car, :(:( 9weeks in the hospital not including rehab for a month, that was in Germany. And man were we very lucky there. :) no permanent damage & at 4 1/2 she fell off the slide at the play-ground & broke her arm, :( she stayed in the hospital for at least a week. Thank god I had a friend over to my house at the time, the doctors were very suspicious about the break, & with one look at her file, they were pretty sure I had done it to her. I think some kids get hurt more than others, & maybe girls are less likely to do damage to them selves than the boys are, but my girl didn't fit the mold, still doesn't for that matter, She is now 28, & has three boys of her own, (pay back time) Pheeewu, the DH & I weren't sure we were going to get her adulthood at all. I hope DS's foot get better real soon, & that's the last time you have to see the inside of the hospital this year, finger's crossed!!!!!!!!!
