witha'K'quilting Posted March 18, 2013 Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 hi all. we had a wonderful weekend. first of all, track/field: taylor ran the 1 mile (7 minuted 24 seconds) and 2 mile (about 15 minutes) this weekend in las vegas. this was the first 'major' running since her sickness last year. (she ran some in soccer, but coach rarely used her in a game). she did great! breathed well, ran hard, and kicked butt for a girl with half the blood flow through her head!!! madeline beat taylor in the 1 mile by 1.1 seconds. these girls are great athletes. madeline also pole vaulted...first time ever. she nearly cleared the 7 foot level, but just caught the pole and knocked it off. bummer. she will try again this next weekend. wrestling: sven lost his first match, but came back to win his final three matches, placing 3rd in the 100 weight class 6/7 grade. i should add that sven's glucose numbers have been awesome since starting wrestling. he is putting on muscle and his body is responding better to his insulin. coaches want to keep both boys in the lower weight classes, but they are putting on muscle pretty quick! eric lost his first match, won his second, but the officials made an error and scratched him from the tourney. by the time the coach found out, it was too late to have it corrected. eric is very quiet, and even though he believed the error would be fixed, he was told by coach to always tell him so that he can get it corrected right away. lesson learned. he won't make that mistake again! i love it that my kids are competitive. they are so much fun. we went to las vegas to watch the girls while the boys wrestled up north. it is so hard to be 5 hours from any event, but we do our best! next weekend, we follow the boys (north) for their qualifying meet before state! these pics are from 2 weeks ago! witha'K'quilting Posted March 18, 2013 Author Report Share Posted March 18, 2013 thanks everyone. i am a very proud mama...especially since i know how hard my kids have to work! taylor and sven have overcome so much and are testaments to fervent prayer! it can be difficult to travel every weekend since the meets are several hours away...but we know it is worth it! I love to see parents who are involved with their kids and make all the sacrifices of running all over to be there to cheer them on.
