Neher-in-law5
I have been asked to embroider (machine) a baby's name and birthdate on a tied fleece blanket. She has untied the corner that it is to be put on. What do you ladies charge for embroidery work for others,by the stitch count,by the letter,by the hour (time),or other? Thanks. Stagecl
Good question. I can't answer it unfortunately. I don't own an embroidery machine so I am totally in the dark. I know someone will chime in.
Heirloom Quilter
I have not embroidered anything directly to a customers quilt. However, I do embroider labels for their quilts. I charge a flat rate, $25.00 per label.
fabric007
There is a local professional embroidery shop, I have had several items like you describe done...For a name and a date they charged $10.00...
Bonnie in Ok
I have charged a $8.00 set up fee and then $1.50 PER 1000 stitches which averages out to about $10.00 to 15.00 for doing names.
IBQLTN2
I have charged $5.00 for either a 3 monogram or a short name. don't do it as a business though, just random people that have asked who know I have a machine.
LFQuilts
For the local embroidery shop where I work sometimes, monograms start at $10.00. A name and date would run $10-$12.00 depending on the size of the embroidery and whether it was one hooping or two. Lynn
chickenscratch
Bonnie, glad to see you are okay. Has anybody heard from Dyan? I don't know where in Oklahoma she lives.
Neher-in-law5
Thank you for the responses. The customer has untied the knots in the corner that needs the name, so all I will need to do is the actual embroidery.
Neher-in-law5
Well, the project turned out well, the unusual name fit well, I didn't need to remove any stitches and got it placed right before stitching, I even retied the corner! I kept track to the time I spent on the computer getting the name placed and babysitting the machine. All told it took about an hour from start to finish. I just delivered it and the customer was very happy. She chose to pay me $25 "since that is what she would have paid Rachel." Of course, I just said "thank you." Guess I better get working on the granddaughter's gift fleece now.
LFQuilts
Madelyn, Well done. It sounds like you were paid fairly - good job accepting payment with a simple 'thank you.' Lynn
