PattyJo
I've just received a quilt to do and the lady has put on borders that have mitered corners and it is not square. The measurements across the top & bottom are 3" shorter than through the middle and the side measurement is 4" shorter than the top to bottom measurement through the middle. I have called her and left a message for her that the quilt isn't square and gave her the option to come and get it and make it right. Any other suggestions out there as to what I should do? I think that I can ease in the extra fullness if she doesn't want to do anything about it, but I'm open for suggestions - help. What would you do? Mary Beth
Have her fix it. You don't want your quilting to look bad just because her top was bad. People will see the quilt and think you did it...not her. You did the right thing.
Bekah
Give it back. I don't even like to quilt my own wonky borders. even that makes me look bad
MarieBrewer
Learn from my screw-up. Don't ever think you are doing someone a favor by fixing their quilt. Long story short, I gave back $166 for a quilt because I added border on the top and sides and switched batting (to a more expensive one) because it was too small. The clincher was that the elk/antelope or whatever the damn things were on the backing were upside down. I guess it was a disaster from the git go. Expensive lesson!! PattyJo
Hi all - You have given me good advice. She did come over and look at it and she recognizes the problem, but because this quilt is for a family member who will probably not "cherish" it, she wants me to go ahead and just quilt it. She said that she is tired to looking at it and was just glad to get it done. I told her that it may not be real flat when I get done and will never be square and she doesn't seem to care about that. She had no qualms about the $$ she will be spending on it - so all this to say - I hope that I don't have teeth marks in my keister when all is said and done. Thanks for all the input.
