Laurie
I want to place an order with Superior as soon as my Millennium arrives (2/20) but I haven't a clue what to get! I have been using YLI variegated cottons on my Hobby Quilter but now that I've joined the big leagues I want to branch out. So, what do you all recommend for the bobbin thread and what do you recommend for the top? How about colors? Should I go with solids or mix solids and variegated? Help! CucumberQuilting
Hi Laurie and Welcome! I would suggest you try Superior Threads, especially the King Tut and So Fine! to begin with. Buy lots and have fun! ~~ Eva H. http://superiorthreads.com/
Laurie
Would the SoFine be for the bobbin or does it matter? Does anyone use Bottom Line for the bobbins and then other threads for the top?
lizziesgirl
Laurie, Congrats on getting your machine and welcome to a wonderful world. I really like the pre-wound bobbins and I use bottom line a lot. I have found that the taupe color works beautifully on dark quilts. I did one with a black border and did feathers and filler designs around them. The taupe on the black looked gold and the effect was awesome. You will get a some thread with your machine and superior offers a sampler pack. I got that and it was a good investment to be able to try most of their threads they carry. Good luck and this forum is a good sorce of information.
Mary Beth
I think your machine will come with a "starter packet" - at least mine did. Thread, pantographs, pre-wound bobbins, etc. You might check with your sales rep. If you get that you won't need to purchase any thread until you PPP. Laurie
Sheryl, Thanks for the info. I was looking at that sample pack.....I think I will get it just to see what all the other threads are like. I'm having a hard time getting over the "must use cotton on cotton" mindset. I love this forum! So, so many talented people!
