shipping client quilts

Recommended Posts

With Fed Ex, depending on the amount of insurance (maybe over $500), they require a signature whether you want it or not.

I always write the client to let her know when I'm ready to ship the quilt and make sure she's going to be expecting it, then I write her with the tracking number once I get it. I track it and once it has been delivered, I write her to let her know that Fed Ex shows it has been delivered and make sure she actually has it. If I don't get a response from her within about 24 hours, I call her to make sure she has it. I did have Fed Ex leave a quilt at the wrong house once but that's the only problem I've ever had. It was at a neighbor's and when they realized it wasn't their package, they delivered it to the rightful owner.

Fed Ex hasn't been very cooperative with getting me set up for shipping here in MO so I'm switching to UPS and keeping my fingers crossed that I will be as happy with them as I was with Fed Ex for the past 8 or 9 years.
