Mandalei
So, I think I am ready to start amping up the feathers. What would you recommend for the next place to start doing research and learning next steps, like DVDs or books? Or just messing around until you find something that you like? GrandmaLKB
All of them............. I'm far from an expert yet, but I watched DVDs, looked at books, PPP on paper and played around with actual quilt sandwiches. Somedays I can do beautiful feathers and somedays I can;'t! Pat C
Kim Brunner's workbook & DVD's called Twirly Whirly Feathers is great. I also love Peggy Holt's book Create Your Own Dream Feathers. Myrna Ficken has great DVD's also - Fowlproof Feathers. Have fun!

shirleyl
Irena Bluhm has books that are laminated and you can trace with a dry erase marker until you get the feel for it. I took a bunch of classes from a bunch of different teachers before I had a light bulb moment. Still not perfect, but better and not so frustrated. Videos and books and practice. chrisquilter
When I am looking for another type of feather, I start drawing on my white board and just experiment! I needed a "crystal like feather for a snow dyed quilt I'm working on and I think I was able to draw what I needed. The fun thing about the white board is that if you hate it, one swipe and it is history! LOL
delld
And when I do something surprising and I really like I take a picture! Love my white board and clear plastic boards I lay on my quilts too!!!
