Bobbin Case rattles on each stitch on my George

I LOVE my George!!  What a great machine!!!!  One question:  I notice with each stitch, I can hear my bobbin case rattling.  When I insert my bobbin, it clicks in place.  The stitches and tension are perfect.  Is this noise typical or have I done something to create this?

Hi Olympia,

The rattle is perfectly normal. There is a piece in your hook assembly called a hook retaining the finger. This finger allows your top thread to pass between it and the shuttle or hook assembly, with each stitch. That causes the bobbin basket where your bobbin case snaps in to move back-and-forth, slightly striking the finger. That makes the clicking sound that you hear.

Just add a drop of oil to the hook assembly as described in the manual and everything will be hunky-dory for the machine. Happy quilting!
