Lynn W
Quilting Guru's......I am working on this antique Yo-Yo quilt. Any suggestions on what to do with these Flowers to nail the Yo-Yo down?
Peggy (SewAsylum)
Could you make a row or 2 of hand stitching just inside the yo yo so it would not be seen? Or you could hand stitch around the outer edges of the yo yo with tiny invisible stitches, such as you would do with needle-turn applique.
Quilting Heidi
I might mimic the pink petals around the yellow center and then use the folds in the yo-yo to stitch lines into the center of the flower.
ffq-lar
How were the yo-yos attached? If they're securely stitched, I'd just outline the yo-yo. If it was a hand-quilted vintage applique quilt, the hand-stitcher would only stitch the edges of the yo-yos down and maybe take a stitch in the very center, just to secure it. Then she might outline and/or echo the shape.
Lynn W
Went with an outline of the flower that slightly goes into the yo-yo to tack it down. Thank you for the suggestions. Much appreciated.
