FowlManorQuilting
Hi Ladies, I sure like being able to see who you are by having an avatar by your comments. Makes me feel I have had the opportunity to really meet all of you in a sense. I have tried several ways to post my avatar but have been unsuccessful. I have it on webshots in my public shoebox sized 100x50 pixels. When typed into the url space it does not stay there. I don't see where to save it on the edit page. The other areas I can change and it does when I leave the edit area but not with the avatar. I'm stumped. Typing in everything from http\\ to just the webshots site address does not work. What am I doing or not doing? Granted it's not the best picture but If sized right it should not matter, right?!! Is 100x50 ok? I also have this picture as a jpeg in my hard drive, can I access it to the avatar area from there, or does it have to be on a web based photo site? I've tried both with no luck. Your assistance would be most welcome. I'll be off and running at the 12 Hours of Sebring on Tuesday and will work the pit lane until it's over on Saturday night. The new Acura LMP car is debuting and it's a real beauty. Hope to get a good shot of it to put to a quilt! The teams love them! I've made several so far, but sorry no pics of them. Will definetely shoot them from now on. Still waiting to use a LA to do my safety quilt. I have made arrangements to do so in April when all the snow birds go back home and the machine is more available. Wishing and hoping for my own machine too! I just drool over what you all have done with yours! Thanks for any help you can send my way! Gloria
catsigler
Try copy and paste. I notice your backslash is going in the wrong direction. Copy/Paste would eliminate any potential for typos. hth
FowlManorQuilting
Thanks for trying to help Cathey, I'm copying and pasting what is on the Google Picassa web shot, I opened an account with Google Picassa web and put this pic in an album, copied the url at the top and pasted it into the window for the avatar and it just won't stay. I hit the edit profile at the bottom thinking it is what I need to do to make it change and it still dissappears! Ack!!! I followed your directions and still it won't stay. Am I banned? (hopefully not!) I'm getting emotional!!! Perhaps I'll just stay annonomous, I have to be invisible for most of what I do at the races, that it won't be hard but it would have been nice. FowlManorQuilting
New tactic, I hit enter after pasting the address, it says I was successful but alas no avatar. Harumph! gloria
catsigler
Gloria, try clicking on the album and then on the actual picture you want as your avatar. That will change the picasa url that displays in your browser. In other words, get to the final destination url of the picture, not just the umbrella or album url. Does that make sense? I don't know that I understand it all either. I tried several times before it took. Maybe there is a gremlin in the system. All I know is this worked for me. FowlManorQuilting
The fact that you keep smiling in your pic helps allot! I will continue to trek into unfamiliar waters and hopefully will succeed. Here I go.....G
FowlManorQuilting
Ok, did what you suggested and pasted the direct url from picture desired. This is what was pasted: <img.SRC=http://thumb2.webshots.net/t/59/79/3/30/85/2531330850099624482KaJGVS_th.jpg"alt="gloatdis-avatar"> Never seen anything so long but that is what was shown and c/p'ed. Still no stick on the edit page.
FowlManorQuilting
Cathey thanks for hanging in there with me. I'm not sure how I did it but I'm now visible and love it. I'm actually stopping a million dollar race car from entering pit lane during practice sessions for the 24 Hour endurance race.
catsigler
Woohoo! Congratulations Gloria! Maybe the key is perseverance and/or quantity. After the 50th attempt, you convince the gremlin that you really want an avatar. Bad Gremlin!
