Doodling Practice - High Contrast Thread

Recommended Posts

I did this on the Juki but I'd like to attempt it on the long arm.  I am still saving up for and lusting after a Lucey.  I was counting on winning that Millie giveaway darnit!  LOL  In any case this was my play yesterday.  Just wanted to share.   :)

As long as you can adjust from moving the fabric to moving the sewing machine you should have not problems once you get your long arm.  Your quilting looks outstanding.  Thanks for sharing and inspiring.

Valerie your "doodling" is so beautiful! You have your unregulated technique down!

Could you tell me what you set your stitch length to? I have been trying to doodle like this with my 2008 Millie and I prefer to have the stitch regulator off. I am still making a mess most of the time, but do a little better if I go slower(stitch length at about 9).

Cagey,  thank you for the vote of confidence!  I do have a long arm I just don't have stitch regulation.  Some day!

Judith - thank you!  No, my long arm is not down but I have a client quilt on the frame so I decided to relax on the Juki.  I can quilt pretty detailed on the long arm but this would tie up my frame longer than I can allow it!  :)

Cathy - I did this on the Juki, but when I get finished with this quilt I'll try to do a little on the Ultimate 1 and see how it turns out.  I probably could do something similar to this, but I imagine it will take as long as it does on the sit down because of the lack of stitch regulation.  Some day I'll get my stitch regulation!!  I am seriously at this point even just thinking about getting a frame set up for the Juki so I can have SOMETHING that's faster than quilting on the sit down but I can keep my own quilts up for long periods of time.  On my APQS - I do not have a stitch length choice - but more a speed choice - I believe it's SPI - because it's all manual.  I keep it set between 6 and 8 most of the time.  For more intricate work I am closer to 6 but over all E2E quilting I crank it up to 8.  Hope that helps!

Fantastic. Way beyond my imagination or abilities. What an inspiration! Will have to show my Juki owner friends.
