I've entered in the previous two shows and won Best Machine Quilting, but I could only get a third place and honorable mention on my quilts, until this year. Best of Show, First Place Pieced and Best Machine Quilting. LibbyG Posted July 15, 2015 Author Report Share Posted July 15, 2015 David, I don't like to mark with any type of pen because I had shadows come back on a quilt years later. So I made a template out of file folder material. Just laid it on the quilt, put a ruler on top and quilted. That's why I didn't want to use two layers of batting. I knew it would be hard to control the ruler. I was probably lucky. In the border area, I chalked lines and placed the template on the lines. Thanks everyone for the great comments.
