Every two years this guild has a show in Cumberland, MD.  I've entered in the previous two shows and won Best Machine Quilting, but I could only get a third place and honorable mention on my quilts, until this year.

Best of Show, First Place Pieced and Best Machine Quilting.

David,

I don't like to mark with any type of pen because I had shadows come back on a quilt years later.  So I made a template out of file folder material.  Just laid it on the quilt, put a ruler on top and quilted. That's why I didn't want to use two layers of batting.  I knew it would be hard to control the ruler.  I was probably lucky.  In the border area, I chalked lines and placed the template on the lines.

Thanks everyone for the great comments.
