“Cover Me” Quilting
I am quilting a quilt that has been beautifully pieced...but the borders are bountiful. I am a relatively new quilter and have not really learned how to deal with this. I am almost at the end and of course...now I have this extra fabric to deal with. Are there any tricks?? Whatever you can offer would be greatly appreciated!! :-)
WW Quilter
There are a number of posts addressing wavy borders. Do a search on the forum for "friendly borders". The starch and steam method works on many...also different types of quilting can help on this problem. Good luck!
Enchanted Quilting
There are many posts as Linda refers to. Piano Keys is one quilting element that can suck up some of the "bounty". Larger motifs, such as generous feathers can also help. Good luck with it!
RoseCity Quilter
Pins, every 1/2 inch if it's bad.....then I choose piano keys every time....
pumpkinpatchquilter
I do as Ardelle suggests and generally pin baste the outer edge rather than machine baste. I have one on the frame now that as I reach the bottom it is more and more evident that the borders weren't measured first. This happens a lot. Sometimes you just have to go slow and even use your fingers to hold the fabric in place until you get some stitching in to avoid puckers or wrinkles.
