suefyfe6@gmail.com
I hope this is the right place to post this. I have an Ultimate II not stitch regulated. I have previously stitched on an Handiquilter 16 with no issues on stitching non regulated other than the occasional bigger stitches. The last quilt I quilted on the Ultimate II using an all over stippling had a lot of long skipped stitches. I have rethreaded, changed needles and am using the same thread top and bottom that I used on other quilts done on this machine. I am sure that my speed of quilting is not causing this as I am going fairly slowly and trying to get regulated stitches. Anyone with any tips I could try or ways of solving this issue. thanks
Zora
Relax the quilt a bit. Too tight on the frame can cause this. Batik front and back, cotton batting and cotton thread or any combination of those can cause skipped stitches. Try going up or down a needle size as well. Busy Quilting
When you say skipped stitches can you see where a hole has been left but the thread is not connected to the bobbin or are they really long stitches. If really long stitches but you are moving consistently it could be the motor. HAve the brushes been checked for wear?
zeke
I had an UII for 14 years. In my experience with the UII it's normally your needle not being in straight or the needle bar bushing have gone bad. Zeke.
jimerickson
Zeke gives good advice. The other thing to check is the timing. It the needle is in properly, and there is no play in the needle bar, and if the missed stitches are up and to the back, it's probably timing. Good luck. Guest mark
The U-II also has a spring loaded presser foot not a hopping foot. So if you don't have the foot low enough to maintain contact with your fabric that will also give you skipped stitches because the foot is not holding the fabric to complete the stitch.
