gardenslug
Does anyone know anything about this sewing machine? Have a friend who has an opportunity to buy this model (used, of course) and is wondering if anyone knows anything about it. Have two 1630 Bernina's myself. They are old, but I love them. Any input would be appreciated. Marilyn
dbams
Marilyn, what age is the machine in question? My mom had a Bernina 830, from about 1973, that my daughter has now. I have a Bernina 930 from 1984. Both are great machines! However, Bernina may have "reused" the 800 and 900 numbers for much later models, so an approximate age would be helpful. Cagey
You might ask your question on the below link to get a more wide and detailed response. http://artisanssquare.com You could also do an internet search for "Bernina 800 sewing machine review". It should pop up some reviews, and more than likely a few post for machines for sale. Then you will know the pros/cons, and the cost for a used machine. Also checkout your local sewing machine dealers. They may have a good deal on a used trade in when someone upgraded to their new machine. You may get a short warranty, plus you know they have looked it over. They want to get a customer that will hopefully trade it in for a new model once they discover how much they enjoy sewing/quilting/embroidering, etc. Cagey
Gator
Betsy is correct, which 800 series is it by date. I have an 820 but it's only a couple years old, Bernina reused the 800 series in their newer machines.
