Sheila S.
I want to use a medium to high loft batting for my next quilt which is different from the warm and natural that I usually use. My questions is what is the best brand and loft to use? I want to use a pantograph to quilt it and was wondering if a high loft will quilt okay. I should add that I am very new at using my longarm, I have only done three quilts so far.
Zora
Quilter's Dream Puff is a nice batting with some loft that isn't hard to work with. It gives nice definition without being super puffy.
Sheila S.
Thank you, Lynn. I will try this with my quilt. Still working on finishing the top but that will give me time to get it and have it ready.
jimerickson
Sheila: I recently began using wool batting, The loft is lovely, it sews like a dream and is light in weight. The only short coming I see is the cost, about twice that of cotton poly. It's my go to batting. Jim
Sheila S.
Does the wool shrink up when washed?
Cagey
My packaging says it shrinks 3 to 5 percent, though you can pre-shrink it if you do not wan the shrunk look on the quilt. Cagey
jimerickson
Hobbs claims 2% shrinkage on theirs, which is less than the 3% they list for their cotton poly blend. Jim
Neher-in-law5
I have a king sized quilt on my bed that has been washed a few times and it hasn't done any shrinking at all. Wool is wonderful.

jimerickson
Sheila: I buy mine from Linda Tayor's LEQ in McKinney TX, but then I just live 50 miles from there and pick up my orders so there's no shipping costs. Jim
