Cagey
Deb: Check all the connections on your compuquilter screen. I am not exactly sure from your post if the computer is the issue of the screen is. Either case, be sure to check all your connections. Be sure that both the screen and computer are powered. If it is not the screen, but you are not hearing the computer starting up properly. You can reset the PRAM, here are the instructions to do this; http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN245206/en If that does not help, you can try starting your computer in Safe Mode; http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN284260 You can also try starting off of a system disk that probably came with your computer and then check your hard drive to see if there are sectors that need to be repaired, or if the hard drive is failing or has failed. Hard drives tend to only last 6 years of so, depending on how much your use them. Depending on our computer, it may be an easy replacement after you buy a new one from Best Buy or another local store. It is usually only a few screws and plugs to swap them out. http://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/19/SLN179204 If this link does not show your exact machine, do a YouTube search, and you will probably find a video explaining exactly how to replace it. Go with a digital hard drive if you plan on keeping the computer for a few more years. There are no moving parts to break down. I just had to do this with my desktop computer. Doing it yourself can safe you a couple of hundred dollars. I wish you the best of luck getting it fixed. Cagey

zeke
Tangled. You should take the side of the tower off every 6 months and clean it out. It's what I do because I'm in the garage. It will take you about an hour and keep you from being completely scared and frazzled. Zeke.
