wmeek 1
Greetings, How do you quilt straight lines that are longer than the throat of the machine? I'm guessing advance the quilt with needle down, but asking to see if there's something else/better.... Thanks. Bill.
Bonnie in Ok 193
That is the way I do it.
Kwiltr 269
If it's a diagonal like crosshatching, you can do a "w" path across. Sometimes you can plan your path to pick up a connected area so you aren't breaking thread or rolling the quilt. Otherwise, I roll on and back to do it or break thread. wmeek 1
Thank you both. It's radiating lines from a central area, vertical, horizontal and various degrees of diagonal in between. I just learned of the 'w' path for cross hatching, pretty slick, but won't work here. Bill.
nancys13 24
Can't help here wmeek, but I am grateful that you all mentioned the W path. I just loaded a quilt where this will work wonderfully. Thanks!
Quilting Heidi 1,398
If you can't load the quilt sideways you can quilt lines in the horizontal position. If they are radiating lines then the only way is to advance back and forth just make sure your pinning really well or you will end up with pleats. I usually pin the snot out of things and then unpin as I get to them. Kwiltr and quilterkp
