Gator 457 Report post Posted November 14, 2017 Has anyone tried out EQ 8 yet, was wondering if it's worth the upgrade from 7? Sue E. 320 Report post Posted November 14, 2017 I just got my EQ8 and really haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet but from what I've seen, it is a much easier program to use and learn. It seems to have a lot of new features. I think the upgrade from 7 is definitely going to be worth it. Sharon Deming 140 Report post Posted November 14, 2017 I updated recently to EQ8. It takes a bit of time to get used to the new format, but I like it. Just the fact that it maintains block coloring even if you change some of the lines is worth the price to upgrade! Here is a like to all of the new features of EQ8. http://electricquilt.com/online-shop/electric-quilt-8/#tab-Features Quote Sharon
Marie0722 78 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 I have been using EQ for the past 18 years and I don't sew anything without it. I upgraded to the new version the day it came out, and I love it. Definitely worth the upgrade. I usually hate change for no reason, but they overhauled the whole worktable setup, and it is so much easier to use now. Lots of hidden new features, and what I love most is that it now shows you the measurements when you are in print mode and click on a block.
Gator 457 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 Great, thank you for the feedback, looks like I will be making a purchase this weekend. Sounds like they did the update right, EQ 7 has been out for years so they took their time with 8. Kwiltr 268 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 There are some encouraging comments here! I have had EQ7 for sometime and never got the hang of it, but when EQ8 came out and the upgrade price was discounted, I bought it, hoping maybe I'd be able to get the hang of it! I haven't installed it yet, but it's on my list of things to learn this year. I am determined!! So much to do.... Neher-in-law5 253 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 I am so glad you asked this. I have not had any EQ versions but was waiting for the new instead of getting the just barely outdated. Looks like Grandma Jackie will be getting me a nice gift for birthday/Christmas! That and the machine quilters business management program.
Cagey 755 Report post Posted November 15, 2017 They are rather proud of the new product. It seems to be about a $100 more than version 7 from what I can find online. Quote May your threads be balanced, and your bobbin forever full….
Neher-in-law5 253 Report post Posted November 16, 2017 Members of AQS get a 20% discount on it from what I have seen. Well worth my already paid membership! 1 Cagey reacted to this

lisae 425 Report post Posted November 17, 2017 Can you upgrade from EQ6 or do you have to buy the full version? I never upgraded to EQ7. Quote Lisa E APQS Freedom SR with Bliss! Henderson, NV
Marie0722 78 Report post Posted November 17, 2017 Yes, you can upgrade from EQ6. EQ6 users don't pay the full price for the upgrade either but the discount is less than for EQ7 users.

Pepsi Girl 238 Report post Posted November 18, 2017 You people are really tempting me I've not used my EQ much as I find it difficult. I've had it since it's first EQ and continue upgrades only because I kept thinking it would become more idiot friendly. After EQ7 I told myself no more. Now hear I am again thinking this could be the one Quote Nancy Gammill AKA "Gabby" Hand Guided

I think the first class starts on Monday - it is online and I think you can join in most any time. Her method of teaching is simple - each lesson is about a 10 minute video and then you create what she did. There will also be some downloadable files. I've signed up and I'll see how it goes. I do use EQ but have never really taken advantage of a great many features that are offered. I hope to learn lots more! Look for the heading Classes at the very top of her page. 1 brendasr8 reacted to this Quote Sue in Phoenix, AZ Millennium with IntelliQuilterhttp://www.flickr.co...aciouscreations

judyday 167 Report post Posted November 19, 2017 Nancy. I took a few of her classes with EQ7. They were very helpful. She did a sneek peek class for EQ8 and i took it. One of the features i like is that i learned how to better use my on fabric in the planning of a quilt. I have made a couple that i wished i had placed hexagons differently. 1 Pepsi Girl reacted to this Quote Judy Day Love My Georgia (aka George)
Neher-in-law5 253 Report post Posted November 19, 2017 Well, I did it! I just ordered my first EQ8. I haven't had any of the other versions, so this should be interesting. I was cleaning emails and it finally dawned on me that the coupon for 30% off of more than $100 would work for this. I ordered 3 items and still paid less for everything including postage because of that coupon from AQS!!!! 1 lisae reacted to this
Cagey 755 Report post Posted November 22, 2017 Madelyn; Can you please share the 30% off code for the EQ8? I am an AQS member, but have not seen a 30% off coupon/code. Thanks in advance. Neher-in-law5 253 Report post Posted November 22, 2017 I am sorry, that coupon ended on the 19th. Check with AQS to be sure to get their emails and they probably will have another one coming. It was a general 30% off $100 or more, not just for EQ8. I hope you can get it more affordably.
