jans
I have a new questions for you. Is it a good idea to buy a used machine and have it shipped from another state? I'm just wondering if it's possible and if it's a good idea or not. What things would have to be considered to help it arrive without injury? Thanks, Jan
mrsbishwit
Anything is possible. When my machine was shipped from the factory in 2005 it costed almost $500.00. And there was a lot of large boxes that were very heavy. Find out if the owner has the original boxes for the machine head and carriage with the styrofoam packing materal to protect the machine. The factory tells the buyer to hold onto this stuff just incase they ever need to ship it for repairs or incase it needs to be sold. (I still have mine) any ways if they don't the shipper will have to look into having someone box the pieces up and properly secure it for shipping and obtaing a shipping/freight company that is willing to ship this heavy equipment...most likely UPS and Fed Ex won't do it because of the size & weight. You can always ask the factory for some ideas for shipping and maybe they will even provide the boxes (for a price) if the originals are no longer available. Definately easier if you lived closer to the machine so you could pick it up yourself. Joann
CucumberQuilting
If they don't have the original shipping boxes/containers you can purchase them from APQS. It's a good idea as the machine head especially is a particular shape the box and packing material fits into. Most of the cost of the shipping is in the weight and length of the rails and legs for the table. You could also consider having the machine head shipped first, back to the factory for a tune-up and then shipped out to you from there. Contact APQS to see what they suggest. Have a great weekend. ~~ Eva H.
