Trapunto look without wool batting

I'm allergic to wool, but I've always wanted to make a whole cloth quilt with the trapunto look on my longarm,  what is a good alternative to wool?

Use poly extra loft for the trapunto and cotton for the foundation

How does the cotton wash up? Do you lose the trapunto look? I recently did a test piece with 80/20 on the back and 100% poly on the front and washed the sample piece on a delicate cold water cycle and I lost the trapunto look.

The poly loft plus cotton works great as a combo. You have to use high loft poly, or extra high loft poly. I've made a quilt using the poly to "pop up" my applique and it looks great.

Hi, you can also try tencel - it's an organic material and can't cause allergy.
