Lib
Help! Can anyone tell me if they have ever used an embroidery thread in the bobbin? I need a specific color of pink and I can't find the color anywhere. I do, however, have a large spool of pink thread that I use in my Janone and it is the exact color I am looking for. For the top I have an Aurifil variegated pink, but I am not sure what the weight is. The spool reads MAKO NE 40/2, but it also has another code GR 30. I can't believe I can be so dense and get myself into these messes. (I usually use the King Tut quilting thread which I have great success with.) dixieqwv
Absolutely ....... it's all about the 'color'.
Lib
Dixie, you must be sitting at your computer. Thank you for the info. I was quite excited about doing this quilt but was reeeeally hesitant to try it with such odd thread, especially as it is a client's. Thanks, Lib
QuiltFaerie
Try it. The worse thing you may have to do is adjust your tension. You just never know sometimes unless you try! I promise not to squeal to the thread police!
Stagecl
I agree with Gail...give everything a try. Put a piece of muslin on for practice that way you don't have to rip out your stitching if it doesn't work. I have used Isacord thread for my top and bobbin. It is a machine embroidery thread that works great (loosen the top tension) and it comes in lots of colors if yours doesn't work. Usually you can find the small spools at a sewing machine shop. Good luck
dixieqwv
Speaking of Isacord thread I read that Jamie Wallen loves it and uses it alot. http://www.jamiewallen.citymax.com/home.html
MarieBrewer
I really like Isacord. I did buy some rayon from ARC. I do NOT like it one bit. I can't use the easy thread needle for burying the thread because it always breaks. It runs OK in the top and bottom but is the pits because it is weak. I just placed an order for 20 more Isacord spools. The price is right at 7.95 per 3000M spoool. I think I got that right. I get mine from J Harold Distributors. You'll find some on ebay too. I think my favorite is So Fine but it's too expensive for LOW income quilters.
Lib
Thanks to all for your help. The Janome embroidery thread works like a charm in the bobbin but I now have a problem with the top thread. It is the aurifil, 100% cotton I was going to use and I remember trying it once before. I just hated it then and have decided I still hate it. All it does is break!! So, now I am going to see if I can find a variegated pink thread for the top.
