probbins
Hi all. I have a question about quilting on batik fabric. I have a quilt with sashing and borders of batik fabric. When sewing I hear a popping noise when the needle is going thru the batik fabric. I have changed the needle but didn't help. Needle is 18 with the R on the package which I read was the recommended needle and size. Anyone else experienced this?
Gail O
You could try using a smaller needle. I'm guessing that the batik fabric was not washed, prior to using in the quilt. Heavy dyes and tightly woven fabric, make it a bit harder for the needle to go between the fibers, so it's kinda punching through. dbams
Granola Girl
I long arm batiks regularly - the smallest needle I can get away with is what I use - I think mine are 100, I don't have any smaller long arm needles
