Myrna Ficken
Hi Phillippe. If you are using a really THICK batting you may need to raise your hopping foot to accommodate the thickness. You may want ot use a #4 needle and stitch slower. Miss you, Myrna
jeri
I've used 16 ounce poly with decorator fabric top and backing and didn't have to change anything. I did use Permacore thread as those little barbs on the poly batting just sawed through cotton thread. Just watch carfully for puckers if you are doing something like a diagonal grid and keep your stitching lines fairly far apart. Intricate quilting designs and ity bity custome stipples or McTavishing don't like really thick batting. jeri

lizziesgirl
I've used Hobbs Hi-Loft batting and did really small work around a design to make it pop and didn't have any trouble. This is what I used in this picture.
Stagecl
I have use Airtex 16 oz batt and didn't change a thing on the machine. I have tried some of the inexpensive hi-loft batts that customers have brought me. My machine will skip stitches and break thread no matter what I do. I think it might have to do with the finish the company uses on the batt. Some hi-lofts are good and some you don't use because they are more trouble than what they are worth. lizziesgirl
Thanks Shana, It was really poofy, the picture doesn't show it, and the quilt had different jungle scenes. It was a quilt top from the 80's a customer's daughter started, she finished it and I quilted it. Didn't want to give it back. Wish I could find the panels again.
